Sunday Reflections...

(Mt 25:14-30) The disobedient steward in today's gospel pretended to have a greater concern for his master's cause than the faithful stewards had. Today secular man won't serve God, yet pretends to have loftier ideals than believers have. For some strange reason he who wouldn't be steward of his master's talent couldn't allow the banker to be its steward either. Likewise, he who won't serve God can't bring himself to serve his fellowman either.

Liberty, fraternity, and equality are secular man's values. Ours are faith, hope and love. Their values are the same as ours, but theirs operate in a different dimension. Ours are vertical: between man and God. Theirs are horizontal: between man and his fellowman. Faith is vertical equality. It lifts our minds' to heaven by allowing us to see as in a "mirror" what God alone can see directly. This view inspires hope for eternal life; which is vertical liberty because it frees us from the fear of death. This freedom allows us to love like Jesus did; which is vertical fraternity because it centers primarily on God, not man. No wonder Mother Teresa's sisters resist every attempt to redefine them as social workers. It is Christ whom they love in everyone. Love that doesn't center on God slowly becomes egoism.

In today's parable the money represents grace - our share in divine life. What if it represented human life - a tender minted in the feminine gender, since women are life's great custodians. In this interpretation man is the steward who must care for woman. No matter how politically incorrect this sounds, such is the case - especially in America. Even bad women used to dress like virgins. That's how men of faith wanted it. Today even good girls dress like bad girls because secular man wants it so. Where woman is man's servant there is polygamy and divorce. Where she is his equal, there is indissoluble and fertile monogamy. Where she is his toy the two feminine values of virginity and motherhood are despised as they are today.

Women are born virgins with a body largely dedicated to motherhood. They prefer speaking about people; men about things, because where your heart is there also is your treasure. According to nature and inclination women are better at building a culture of people within the family than at making the earth yield its secrets and its fruit. Contraception and abortion were needed to draw women into the workforce to help men build their culture on things - where woman herself becomes a thing of pleasure. Materialism is the brainchild of distorted masculinity. So is divorce, where people become as disposable as things. No wonder men tolerate it far better than women. So is birth control, which makes women like men - sensors and dispensers of pleasure incapable of giving birth. Most women used to be virgins because their believing father's wanted them that way. Today few are because fathers allow their children to be taught at school how to gratify themselves and how to fornicate "properly."

But things have come full circle. Secular man is growing tired of his toy. Women keep getting pregnant despite all the hormones and paraphernalia. Besides, they never could quite keep up with his addiction to pleasure. So men are giving up the right use of women and burning with lust for one another. By destroying woman, man has destroyed himself. A perverted masculinity ultimately leads to effeminacy. Secular man's only salvation is the real woman, virgin and mother. Men who esteem blessed Mary as they should, won't see women defiled. Amen.
